The Alpargata
The Alpargatas is truly a product of the Argentinian lifestyle, an evolution of rope shoes introduced by the Spanish in the 15th century. In the 1850’s there were about 50 families in Buenos Aires producing and living off the construction of their handmade Alpargatas.
Originally, the practical slip on shoe is made of canvas fabric and rope and was developed as an affordable shoe for the rural workers. The mythical gauchos of Argentina popularised the alpargatas, wearing them on and off there horse, wherever they go. The slip-on shoe is appreciated for its comfort and practicality.
The Fagliano’s have revisited the shoe and turned it into a sophisticated item of clothing.
The Last
The last of the Alpargata has a subtly squared toe with an elongated yet slim silhouette and a slimmed down back part to reduce the slipping of the heel. Each pair of Alpargatas is signed with a cross stitching on either side of the vamp.

Shoe Care
Straight out of the box, the first thing to do with your suede shoe is to apply a “suede protector” spray. The preemptive spray will partially water proof your shoes and keep a lot of the dirt and stains from sticking to them.
To maintain your suede shoe it is best to regularly brush them with a suede brush. Brush them while dry, do not press to hard and always in the same direction to keep the nap uniform. For more persistent stains that wont come off with the brush, use a suede eraser. Apply a light pressure.
Tip:
To revive your suede shoe, use the steam from a kettle then brush the hairs with a rubber suede brush.

CONSTRUCTION & LEATHER
The Alpargata is available in a range of colours: Blue, Chocolate, Dark Green, Light Green, Oltremare, Orange, Sand and Sky Blue. A colour for every mood and occasion.
The summer loafer is made of the softest Italian suede and finished with a light weight bark tanned leather sole. The slipper is beautifully hand-stitched by our expert craftsman with an internal lining to ensure added comfort and durability.
The Alpargata is equipped with a discreet pull tab at the back for an ease of wear.
