MORE INFORMATION
The Penny Loafer
The design of the penny loafer came about in the 1930’s as revisited moccasin. The new model was identified by the hand-stitched strip of leather across the saddle. The embellishment had a practical application as you could fit a penny in the half moon cut out, which was just how much a phone call costed at the time. Thus students would keep a penny in the cut out for the just-in- case emergency phone call home, hence the name “Penny Loafer”.
The Last
The straight last of the Belgrano has a high walled round toe and a high instep, The Belgrano slip-on shoe is popular for being comfortable from the first wear.

Shoe Care
A cordovan pair of shoe will require much less maintenance then a calf leather shoe. Shell Cordovan has the particularity of being extremely resistant. The leather is vegetable tanned, soaked in oil during 6 to 9 months, which gives it its natural shine and strong waterproofing capacity.
Start by cleaning your shoes with a soft damp cloth then allow to dry before applying any product. Use a cordovan cream to treat the leather, apply a very small amount then let it dry a few minutes before brushing them to remove any excess.
If you feel that your pair may require some extra care, you can use a polishing deer bone.
Roll the bone, using its softer side in circular motion, particularly over creases, scratches and scuffs. It will iron out the leather and bring back the cordovan’s natural shine.
HOW TO STYLE
The Slip-on shoe is the perfect option for the gentleman looking for a comfortable and yet elegant style of footwear. The loafer works well with a pair of jeans, chinos or suit trousers.
CONSTRUCTION & LEATHER
The Belgrano uses shell cordovan leather, a rare and particularly noble leather that requires very little maintenance and ages beautifully, it’s not incongruous to say that a pair of cordovan lasts a lifetime. This rich leather has the particularity of being extremely resistant, with a natural shine and strong waterproofing capacity.
The Belgrano is an unlined loafer whose construction originates from the moccasin. The loafer is goodyear welted by our expert craftsman, and finished with a bark tanned leather sole, completely re-solable. Our leather soles are hand-stained and waxed to protect from the elements, they are endowed with a “gentleman’s corner” to prevent your heel from getting caught in your trousers cuffs.
